May 2012: Art Education DC founding leadership group begins affiliation process.
August 2012: Art Education DC is formally affiliated with NAEA. AEDC preliminary constitution and bylaws developed.
October 4, 2012: Art Education DC officially launches!
On Thursday, October 4th, over 100 art educators took part in the launch of Art Education DC. There was a great art ed buzz in the Carriage House of The Phillips Collection. November 2012: AEDC holds its first Executive Board elections.
December 2012: AEDC’s first elected Executive Board begins regular meetings.
March 2013: AEDC represents Washington, DC at the Delegates Assembly of Art Educators at the National Art Education Association annual convention in Fort Worth, TX.
2013 – 2014: AEDC’s Executive Board builds a strategic plan, planning to offer meet-ups, professional developments, and resources for art educators in the DC area.
March 2014: AEDC represents Washington, DC at the Delegates Assembly of Art Educators at the National Art Education Association annual convention in San Diego, CA.
